Which form of magnesium is best absorbed?
Citrate is well absorbed and the usual everyday choice. Taurate and malate suit people who have not got on with other forms.
Should I take an iron supplement?
Not without knowing you need it. A blood test through your GP is the right first step – too much iron is genuinely harmful.
Do minerals need to be taken with food?
Generally yes, and they are better tolerated that way. Iron in particular is easier on an unsettled stomach with something to eat.
Why do so many forms of magnesium exist?
They differ in how well they are absorbed and how well people tolerate them, not in what magnesium does once it is in you.
