What is in this collection?

Saw palmetto is the most common ingredient by some distance, sold both on its own and inside broader men's formulas. Alongside it you will find zinc, selenium, lycopene, pumpkin seed and nettle root, usually combined in a single capsule.

Which nutrients have approved claims?

Zinc contributes to the maintenance of normal testosterone levels in the blood, and to normal fertility and reproduction. Selenium contributes to normal spermatogenesis. Both appear frequently in men's formulas for that reason. Saw palmetto itself is a herbal ingredient and carries no authorised health claim.

When to see your GP instead

This matters more here than in most categories. Urinary changes in men over 50 are common and usually benign, but they can also be a sign of something that needs investigating, and the symptoms overlap. Supplements are not a substitute for that check, and taking one should not delay it. Speak to your GP about any new or changing urinary symptoms, and before starting saw palmetto if you take prescribed medication.
