What is stabilised allicin?
Allicin is the compound formed when garlic is crushed and it degrades quickly. Stabilised preparations are made so it survives into the capsule.
Is odourless garlic as good?
The compounds behind the smell and the effect are related, so odourless versions involve a compromise. Coated capsules that release lower down are the usual approach.
Can I take garlic supplements before surgery?
Tell your surgeon or GP. Garlic at supplement strength can affect blood clotting, so it is commonly stopped beforehand.
Is a supplement better than eating garlic?
Different. Cooking with garlic is worth doing; a supplement provides a concentrated and consistent amount, which cooking cannot.
