Which nutrients have approved claims?

Magnesium contributes to normal psychological function and to the normal functioning of the nervous system. Thiamine, niacin, biotin, vitamin B6, B12, folate and vitamin C all contribute to normal psychological function. Several of the same nutrients also contribute to a reduction of tiredness and fatigue, which often matters as much day to day.

What about ashwagandha, rhodiola and L-theanine?

These are among the most-requested products in the shop and none of them carries an authorised health claim in Great Britain. We stock them because customers ask for them, and we would rather tell you plainly where the evidence sits than imply something the regulator has not accepted. Some herbal products hold a Traditional Herbal Registration based on long-standing use; where that applies it is stated on the pack.

Magnesium and sleep

Magnesium is the single most-bought product in this collection. Its approved claims cover psychological function and the nervous system rather than sleep specifically. Powders, sprays and bath flakes are all popular formats here alongside capsules.

Which B vitamins matter here?

Can I take ashwagandha every day?

It is generally taken daily at the dose on the pack, over a period of weeks. It is not recommended in pregnancy, and anyone with a thyroid condition or on prescribed medication should check with a pharmacist first.

Will any of these make me drowsy?

B vitamins and magnesium are not sedatives. Some traditional preparations aimed at sleep, such as valerian, are meant for the evening - the pack will say, including any warning about driving.

Can I take these alongside antidepressants?

Not without checking. St John's Wort in particular has well-documented interactions with antidepressants and much else. Speak to your GP or pharmacist before starting anything.
