Why has the oil separated in the jar?
Because there are no emulsifiers or palm oil holding it together. Stir it back through — standing the jar upside down for an hour first makes this much easier.
What does raw mean here?
That the nuts or seeds are not heated during processing. It gives a milder flavour than roasted.
Do they contain palm oil or added sugar?
The plain butters are just the nut or seed, sometimes with salt. Flavoured and chocolate varieties differ, so check the individual jar.
Are there nut-free options?
Yes — the seed butters, including sesame, sunflower and pumpkin. Check the label for allergen and shared-line information if the allergy is severe.
Should I keep it in the fridge?
Not essential. A cool cupboard is fine, and refrigerating makes it hard to spread. Follow the guidance on the jar.
