Chromium picolinate and GTF chromium from Solgar, Viridian, Biocare, Natures Aid, Lifeplan and Pharma Nord – capsules, tablets and liquid.
Chromium contributes to normal macronutrient metabolism and to the maintenance of normal blood glucose levels. If you are managing diabetes, speak to your GP or diabetes nurse before taking chromium – it should not be started alongside medication without advice.
Cellular bound, organic chromium formula is up to ten times better absorbed than any other form of chromium, used in most other supplements.

Chromium picolinate is the most common form and what Solgar use, at 200mcg and 500mcg. GTF stands for glucose tolerance factor, and Viridian's complex uses that form. Both are well established and the choice between them is not a difficult one.
Note the unit: chromium is measured in micrograms, not milligrams, so the numbers are small. That is normal for a trace mineral and not a sign of a weak product.
Chromium is needed in genuinely tiny quantities and most people get some from food – wholegrains, meat and broccoli among others. It is not a mineral where taking more achieves more.
Biocare's Nutrisorb liquid is the option if you want to take a small amount by the drop rather than a fixed tablet, which suits a mineral used at this scale.
This is the part of the page that matters. Chromium is involved in how the body handles glucose, which means it should not be added on top of medication that is already doing that job without your GP or diabetes nurse knowing.
The same applies in pregnancy and breastfeeding. If you have been told to watch your blood sugar, the sensible order is: speak to the person managing it, then decide about a supplement. Not the other way round.
