Moringa oleifera is a tree grown across the tropics, and it is the dried leaf that goes into these bags. It is drunk widely in West Africa, the Caribbean and South Asia as an everyday tea rather than as anything unusual.

Dalgety are a British company specialising in Caribbean and African herbal teas, which is why their range covers plants you will not find in a supermarket.

Pure moringa is the plainest and tastes green and slightly grassy. The ginger blend is warmer and easier if you find plain moringa a bit austere. The soursop blend is the sweeter of the three.

All are caffeine free, so they can be drunk in the evening without consequence. That is a practical point rather than a claim.

Herbal teas generally want longer than black tea – five minutes or more, covered, so the aromatics do not escape with the steam. Squeeze the bag before removing it.

If you are pregnant, breastfeeding or taking prescribed medication, check with a pharmacist before drinking herbal teas regularly. Occasional cups are a different matter from several a day.
