What is castile soap?
A soap made from vegetable oils rather than animal fats or synthetic detergents. Dr Bronner's is sold as a concentrate, so it is diluted for use.
How much should I use?
Far less than you would expect. A few drops washes hands; dishes and floors want it heavily diluted in water. The bottle gives dilution guidance for each use.
Can I use it as shampoo?
Many people do, though it behaves differently from conventional shampoo and hair can take a few washes to adjust. Those with very dry or colour-treated hair sometimes find it too stripping.
Which scent should I choose?
Peppermint and Citrus Orange are the most popular for general use, Lavender for evening, Tea Tree for oilier skin, and Baby Mild unscented if your skin is sensitive or you are washing children.
Can I mix it with vinegar for cleaning?
No. Castile soap reacts with acids like vinegar and curdles, leaving a white residue. Use them separately if you use both.
