Georganics makes natural oral care products in Sussex, not far from us. Toothpaste comes in glass jars rather than plastic tubes, and the range extends to tooth tablets, mouthwash, floss and brushes.

The products are fluoride free, which is a deliberate choice by the brand rather than an oversight. If fluoride matters to you or your dentist has recommended it, that is worth knowing before you switch — and worth a conversation with them.

Mineral toothpaste comes in glass jars in several flavours, applied with a spatula or bamboo brush rather than squeezed from a tube.

Tooth tablets are a solid alternative that you chew before brushing — convenient for travel. There is also oil pulling mouthwash, floss and toothbrushes.

We are a Sussex health store stocking a Sussex brand, and we keep a proper spread of flavours and formats rather than one or two.

These products behave differently from conventional toothpaste: they do not foam, because there is no SLS, and the taste is less sweet. Most people adjust within a week or two.

Why doesn't it foam?

Because there is no SLS in it. Foaming is not what cleans your teeth — brushing is — but it does feel different at first.

How do I use toothpaste from a jar?

With the spatula provided, transferring a small amount onto your brush. Avoid dipping a wet brush into the jar, which shortens its life.

What are tooth tablets?

Solid tablets you chew before brushing, which turn to paste in the mouth. Convenient for travel and completely plastic free.
