Organix is a British brand that has spent decades making organic food for babies and toddlers, and it is probably best known for its No Junk Promise: no artificial colours, flavours, sweeteners or preservatives, no hydrogenated fats, and no unnecessary additives.

Everything is certified organic, which means the ingredients are grown without synthetic pesticides or fertilisers — the thing most parents are thinking about when they start reading labels properly for the first time. The recipes are kept deliberately simple, usually built on a handful of recognisable ingredients like oats, fruit, vegetables and rice.

For babies beginning to feed themselves, the melty puffs, rice cake clouds and weaning wands are designed to dissolve easily and be easy to hold in a small fist.

For toddlers, the range moves on to sturdier snacks: oat bars, fruit bars, flapjacks, veggie and carrot sticks, and biscuits — including the Gruffalo range, which tends to be the one children ask for by name. Mini Oat Bars and Animal Biscuits are the two that most often end up in a changing bag or a lunchbox.

As with any finger food, children should be sitting up and supervised while eating. Store snacks in a cool, dry cupboard, and once a multipack is opened, keep the inner packs sealed until you need them.
