Worth saying plainly because it alarms people: riboflavin turns urine bright yellow, sometimes almost fluorescent. That is the vitamin being passed and is entirely normal.

It is the reason a B complex has the same effect, since riboflavin is in all of them. Nothing has gone wrong and it is not a sign you are wasting the whole capsule.

Viridian's High Two pairs B2 with the wider B group. Solgar's 100mg is riboflavin on its own. As with the rest of the B vitamins, a complex is the sensible default unless you have a particular reason.

100mg is many times what a diet provides, so if you are taking it at that strength it is worth knowing why rather than doing it by default.

Take it with food. It is water soluble, so what is not used is passed rather than accumulating, which makes it hard to overdo.

Check your multivitamin for overlap. If you are pregnant, breastfeeding or on prescribed medication, ask a pharmacist before adding a high-strength single B vitamin.

FAQ

Why has my urine turned bright yellow?

Riboflavin. It is entirely normal, and it happens with any B complex too.

Is riboflavin the same as B2?

Yes, two names for the same vitamin.

Should I take B2 on its own?

A complex is the sensible default. Single high-strength B2 is generally taken for a particular reason.

Can I take too much?

It is water soluble and the excess is passed, which makes it difficult to overdo. Still check for overlap with a multivitamin.
