Understanding Thyme Oil Chemotypes
Thymus Vulgaris produces various chemotypes that significantly alter the oil's constituent makeup. The most common chemotypes are "Thymol" and "Carvacrol", which contain high concentrations of toxic phenols - up to 60% Thymol and Carvacrol. Absolute Aromas offers Sweet Thyme, a gentler alternative that maintains a maximum 3% concentration of these components, making it sweeter, less toxic, and less irritant than standard thyme oils.
Aromatherapy Applications
Sweet Thyme Oil works effectively in oil burner blends. Add 1 drop each of Thyme, Lemon, and Rosemary to water in an oil burner to help create a clean atmosphere during times of family ills.
For topical application, blend 2 drops of Thyme with 3 drops of Geranium and 1 drop of Palmarosa in a teaspoon of Peach Kernel oil. Use this body massage oil blend when recovering from illness or feeling run-down.
