Spectrumzyme is a broad enzyme blend rather than a single-enzyme product, which is the distinction to understand before buying.

Each capsule contains bromelain, papain, lactase, protease, lipase, gluten protease and amylase, in a base of potato maltodextrin and cellulose, with a HPMC capsule shell. Between them those enzymes act on proteins, fats, carbohydrates, lactose and gluten, whereas a single-enzyme product handles only one of them.

Biocare's directions are one capsule with each main meal, to a maximum of three daily, or as professionally directed. Enzymes are taken with food rather than at a set time.

At three a day the pack covers a month; taken with one meal a day it lasts three. Most people land somewhere between the two, depending on the meal.

Contains sulphites, from the papain. Individual enzyme activities are not declared on our listing.

A food supplement is not a substitute for a varied diet. If you have an ongoing digestive condition, speak to your doctor rather than self-managing it.
