UMF 5+ Manuka Honey 500g

UMF 5+ is Comvita's entry grade, and in the 500g jar it is the most economical way into properly certified manuka.

The Unique Manuka Factor system grades honey against several natural markers, independently audited by the UMF Honey Association. A licensed jar carries a number you can check, which distinguishes it from the in-house scales some producers use.

The jar holds 100% pure New Zealand manuka honey.

At UMF 5+ the flavour is mild. This is the grade to cook with, stir into porridge or spread without thinking about it, rather than the one to ration. If you want the stronger, more resinous character, the 10+ and 15+ are worth the step up.

Comvita list UMF 5+ and 10+ in both 250g and 500g, and 15+ in 250g. Buying the larger jar at a lower grade generally costs less per spoonful than a small jar of a high one.

Not suitable for infants under twelve months. Honey is high in natural sugars.

For Consumption

Straight from the jar: Enjoy 1–2 tablespoons daily to support your immune system or as a natural energy boost.

In drinks: Stir into tea, warm milk, or water. Add a squeeze of lemon for an extra hit of vitamin C.

As a sweetener: Naturally sweeten smoothies, cereal, yogurt, or desserts.

With breakfast foods: Spread on whole-grain toast or drizzle over pancakes, granola, or muesli.

For Skin and Hair

Facial mask: Apply a thin layer to hydrate and nourish your skin.

Minor wounds and burns: Dab directly onto the affected area to help prevent infection and encourage healing.

Hair treatment: Blend with coconut oil, apply to damp or dry hair, leave for 30 minutes, then shampoo.

Other Uses

Cough and sore throat: A spoonful can help soothe irritation and ease coughing.

Digestive health: Its natural properties may calm acid reflux and heartburn.

Oral care: Known to reduce plaque and support gum health thanks to its antibacterial effects.
