Gastrus differs from the rest of the BioGaia range by using two strains rather than one.

Each chewable tablet contains L. reuteri Gastrus, which combines DSM 17938 with ATCC PTA 6475, in a base of isomalt with ascorbic acid as a flavour enhancer and mandarin and mint flavouring.

Pairing those two particular strains is the whole basis of the product. BioGaia give each strain combination its own name and handle it as a distinct preparation, so Gastrus and Protectis are not interchangeable despite sharing DSM 17938.

Take the recommended dose at any time of day, with or without food. The tablets are chewable rather than swallowed whole, and taste of mandarin and mint.

Thirty tablets covers a month at one a day.

There is also a Gastrus PURE version in a different format if you would rather not have a flavoured chewable.

Isomalt may have a laxative effect if consumed in quantity. A food supplement is not a substitute for a varied diet.

Bulking agent (isomalt), L. reuteri Gastrus®(L. reuteri DSM 17938) and L. reuteri ATCC PTA 6475, flavour enhancer (ascorbic acid), mandarin flavouring and mint flavouring.
