Colestroforte 60 Tablets

Colestroforte is a multi-ingredient formula rather than a single extract, and the ingredient list is where the interest lies.

Two tablets supply 400mg of red rice yeast, 250mg of inositol, 200mg of gugulipid extract at 3:1 standardised to 5 to 10 percent guggulsterones, 100mg of pantethine, 100mg of L-taurine and 200 micrograms of chromium. Chromium contributes to normal macronutrient metabolism and to the maintenance of normal blood glucose levels.

Pantethine is a derivative of pantothenic acid, and gugulipid comes from the resin of the Commiphora mukul tree, long used in ayurvedic practice. Neither is common in UK formulas.

HealthAid's directions are two tablets daily with food, increasing to three if required.

Red yeast rice is a fermented product whose composition varies between preparations, and it is not something to add casually alongside prescribed medication.

At two tablets a day this pack covers a month.

Adults, two tablets daily with food. Can be increased to three tablets daily if required. Do not exceed recommended daily intake unless advised by a suitably qualified person.
