Astaxanthin & Blackcurrant 90 Capsules

Astaxanthin is the pigment that makes salmon and shrimp pink, and it is one of the more costly carotenoids to produce, which is why it is usually sold on its own.

Two capsules supply 4mg of pure astaxanthin from Haematococcus pluvialis, the microalga it is cultivated from, together with 100mg of blackcurrant fruit extract at 4:1 concentration and at least 622.5mg of tomato powder as a natural source of lycopene.

Sourcing astaxanthin from algae rather than synthesising it is the distinction worth noting on the label, and Higher Nature name the organism.

Their directions are two capsules a day with a meal, for adults and children of fourteen and over. Carotenoids are fat-soluble, so food helps.

The capsule is hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, coloured with red iron oxide, and suits vegetarians.

At two capsules a day this pack covers around six weeks. Astaxanthin products are usually sold in 30 or 60 capsule sizes, so the 90 is a longer run than most.
