Shilajit is a dense, adhesive substance found in high mountain ranges like the Himalayas, Altai Mountains, Ural Mountains, and Hindu Kush. It can also be found in Nepal, Pakistan, Mongolia, Bhutan, Saudi Arabia, Australia, and North and South America.

In its natural state, it emerges from rocks in the mountains and has been referred to as the "sweat of the mountains" or "tears of the rocks" by ancient cultures. It is highly valued as a medicine in Ayurvedic practices and is known as "Shilajit", meaning "Conqueror of Mountains".

While its formation is still a mystery, it is believed to be the result of centuries of decay and amalgamation of plants, herbs, and minerals at high altitude. Shilajit contains a variety of compounds, including over 80 minerals, amino acids, fatty acids, triterpenes, sterols, and polyphenols.
