Organic Barley Flakes are made by rolling whole barley grains, giving them a mild, slightly sweet flavour and a chewy texture once cooked. They make a good alternative to oats in porridge, particularly if you want a change of texture, and work equally well stirred into homemade muesli and granola or added to bread and bakes for extra body. As barley contains gluten, it isn't suitable for a gluten-free diet, but it is certified organic and vegan. Cook them gently with water or milk for a warm breakfast, or soak overnight for a quicker morning bowl. Certified organic and vegan, they're a simple way to bring some variety to a wholegrain breakfast routine. Store in an airtight container in a cool, dry cupboard to keep them fresh.
