Organic Currants are small, dark dried grapes with a more concentrated, slightly tart flavour than raisins or sultanas, making them a classic ingredient in fruit cakes, mincemeat, scones and hot cross buns. Their small size means they distribute evenly through batters and doughs without needing chopping, and their tartness balances well against the sweetness of other dried fruit in a mix. They're just as good stirred into savoury dishes like couscous, tagines or stuffing, where a small burst of sweetness works well against spice. Certified organic, vegan and gluten-free, with no added sugar, they suit most plant-based and refined-sugar-free diets. Store in a sealed container in a cool, dry place to keep them from drying out further.
