Organic Spelt Flakes are rolled from whole spelt grain, an ancient wheat variety valued for its nutty, slightly sweet flavour and easier digestibility for some people compared with modern wheat, despite still containing gluten. They make a distinctive porridge alternative, and work equally well stirred into muesli, added to bread and bakes, or used as a textured topping for crumbles. Their heartier bite compared with oat flakes makes for a more substantial breakfast bowl. Certified organic and vegan, with no added sugar, they're a good way to add variety to a wholegrain breakfast or baking routine, though as spelt is a form of wheat, they aren't suitable for a gluten-free diet. Store in an airtight container in a cool, dry cupboard to keep them fresh.
