Vitamin E supplements come in two forms, and this is the natural one.

Each capsule supplies 268mg, equivalent to 400iu, of vitamin E as d-alpha tocopherol. The d-alpha form is extracted from plant oils, whereas the cheaper dl-alpha form is synthetic; the body retains the natural form more readily, which is why the two are not priced alike. Vitamin E contributes to the protection of cells from oxidative stress.

The capsule is encapsulated with sunflower seed oil, and the shell is made from modified starch, glycerol and carrageenan rather than gelatin.

Lamberts' directions are one capsule daily with a meal. Vitamin E is fat-soluble, so taking it with food that contains some fat helps absorption. At one a day the 180-capsule pot lasts six months, which is where this size earns its place against the smaller packs.

A food supplement is not a substitute for a varied diet. Do not exceed the recommended daily dose. Speak to your doctor first if you take anticoagulant medication.
