Slippery elm is the inner bark of the Ulmus rubra tree, and this is the plain powder with nothing added.

The single ingredient is 100 percent pure slippery elm bark powder.

Thompsons suggest mixing one teaspoon, around 6g, with raw cane sugar or honey if you want it sweetened, then adding half a pint of liquid slowly. The order matters: added too fast, the powder clumps rather than dispersing.

Slippery elm is mucilaginous, meaning it thickens in liquid and forms a gel. That property is why it has been used the way it has, and why the preparation instructions are more particular than for most powders.

At 80g this is the smaller size, which suits trying it before committing to a larger tub. At a teaspoon a day it lasts around a fortnight.
