Prenatal DHA 60 Capsules
- 600mg of DHA in each serving
- Maternal DHA aids foetal brain development
- Made for pregnancy
Prenatal fish oils are weighted towards DHA rather than EPA, and this one is a clear example of that.
Each serving of two softgels supplies 580mg of DHA and 115mg of EPA, 695mg of omega-3 in total. Maternal intake of DHA contributes to the normal brain development and the normal eye development of the foetus and of breastfed infants, at a daily intake of 200mg on top of the usual adult omega-3 intake. Two softgels supply well over double that, which is why the DHA figure is the one to compare.
The ratio is the thing to check when comparing prenatal oils: a general fish oil is usually EPA-dominant, which is the wrong way round for this purpose.
Wiley's directions are two softgels daily with food, so the 60-count bottle is a one-month supply.
The shell is fish gelatin rather than bovine, and mixed tocopherols are used as the antioxidant.
Contains fish. Speak to your midwife or doctor before starting any supplement in pregnancy.
