Which B vitamins matter here?
B6, B12, folate, niacin, thiamine and biotin all contribute to normal psychological function. A B-complex covers them together, which is why it is usually chosen over a single B vitamin.
Can I take ashwagandha every day?
It is generally taken daily at the dose on the pack, over a period of weeks. It is not recommended in pregnancy, and anyone with a thyroid condition or on prescribed medication should check with a pharmacist first.
Will any of these make me drowsy?
B vitamins and magnesium are not sedatives. Some traditional preparations aimed at sleep, such as valerian, are meant for the evening - the pack will say, including any warning about driving.
Can I take these alongside antidepressants?
Not without checking. St John's Wort in particular has well-documented interactions with antidepressants and much else. Speak to your GP or pharmacist before starting anything.
