CoQ10 exists in two forms. Ubiquinone is the conventional, cheaper one that most products contain. Ubiquinol is the reduced form, and it is what this shelf is.

Ubiquinol costs more. Whether it represents better value depends on the strength and price in front of you, so work out the cost per milligram rather than assuming the more expensive form is automatically the better buy.

CoQ10 in either form is fat soluble and poorly absorbed as a dry powder. That is why softgels suspended in oil are the standard format, and why Pharma Nord make a point of their preparation rather than just the raw ingredient.

Take it with a meal containing some fat. Taking it with water on an empty stomach wastes a good deal of what you have paid for.

50mg and 100mg are the strengths here, in counts up to 150 capsules. The larger packs are meaningfully better per capsule, and since this is generally taken over months rather than weeks, that adds up.

If you take prescribed medication, ask your pharmacist before starting, and leave it alone in pregnancy and breastfeeding unless a midwife has said otherwise.

FAQ

What is the difference between ubiquinol and ubiquinone?

They are two forms of CoQ10. Ubiquinone is conventional and cheaper; ubiquinol is the reduced form and costs more.

Is ubiquinol worth the extra?

Work out cost per milligram at the strength you want. The more expensive form is not automatically better value.

Should I take it with food?

Yes, with a meal containing some fat. It is fat soluble and poorly absorbed otherwise.

Is the larger pack better value?

Usually meaningfully so per capsule, and this is taken over months rather than weeks.
